Academy Coaches and Staff

 


Blake Hornbuckle, Academy Director

Head Coach, Blake Hornbuckle, is entering his 11th year at Southeastern Louisiana University. Hornbuckle has an extensive background of coaching at all levels of the game with both genders. Hornbuckle has led Southeastern to Southland Conference titles in 1998, 1999, 2002, 2003 and 2006. He has been named Louisiana Coach of the Year in 1998, 1999 and 2003 and Southland Conference Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2006. Hornbuckle has experience working with high level players that have participated in the US National Team Programs and has also coached in two national tournaments. Hornbuckle holds a USSF "A" license, USSF National Youth license and NSCAA National Diploma. At Southeastern, Hornbuckle has coached 67 All Conference Players, 3 Southland Players of the Year, 1 Academic All American and 3 Southland Freshmen of the Year. Hornbuckle's record at Southeastern is 105-67-22 and 59-31-14 in the Southland Conference.  His overall record is 115-74-24. Hornbuckle's success has been evident on the field as he has produced 38 All Louisiana Selections, 3 Louisiana Players of the Year and 6 SLC title appearances. Hornbuckle was recently named to the Team of the Decade for the 1990's at his Alma Mater, Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee.

Emma Wright, Assistant Academy Director

Assistant Coach, Emma Wright, is entering her 2nd season at Southeastern.  Wright, a native of Manchester, England, played three years at Central Connecticut State where she was a two time first team All-Northeast Conference selection.  She played her final year of collegiate soccer at Slippery Rock University earning All-Pennsylvania conference honors.  Wright played professionally in Iceland for  KR in the Premiership.  She formerly coached at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee.  Wright is a former  member of the National Women’s Football Academy  and played in England for Everton in the Premiership winning the league title in 1997.
